Overview

Heartland Marimba is seeking new works for marimba ensemble to be considered for performance and publication during the upcoming season’s HMIF (Heartland Marimba International Festival, Nov. 4-8) and PASIC (Nov. 11-14). Selected composers will receive a consultation with Heartland Marimba, performances during the November tour (Oct. 30-Nov. 14) by Heartland Marimba Quartet and/or Heartland Marimba Orchestra, and publication through Heartland Marimba Publications.

Selected Composers Receive

Consultation with Heartland Marimba
A chance to discuss the work, notation, ensemble writing, performance considerations, and publication preparation with members of Heartland Marimba.

Performance Opportunities
Selected work(s) will be programmed for performance during Heartland Marimba’s November tour, including performances by Heartland Marimba Quartet and/or Heartland Marimba Orchestra in Pennsylvania and at PASIC (Indianapolis).

Publication through Heartland Marimba Publications
Selected work(s) will be considered for publication through Heartland Marimba Publications.

Submission Guidelines

Composers should submit:

  • A PDF score
  • A recording (If work will be an adaptation of a previously performed work a live or produced recording of the original is acceptable. If it is a newly composed work or an adaptation of one that has not been performing a MIDI recording is all acceptable)
  • A brief composer bio
  • A short program note
  • Contact information

Works may be newly composed or previously written/premiered (adaptations of previous works is acceptable), provided they are unpublished and available for publication through Heartland Marimba Publications. Work must be under five minutes in duration.

Application Fee

A $15 submission fee is requested to help support administrative needs connected to the call for scores. This includes score review, composer communication, consultation scheduling, music preparation, and publication coordination.
